The Triumphal Arch at the G7 Summit
On March 30th & 31st, Florence hosted the annual gathering of G7 culture ministers. 2017's theme for the G7 conclave was cultural heritage preservation. Fittingly, the organizers of the event asked the IDA to install its reconstruction of Palmyra’s Triumphal Arch in conjunction with the meeting. The arch was installed in the Piazza della Signoria where it stood alongside Michelangelo’s great masterpieces, David and Neptune. The arch was on display from March 27th to April 27th, and was officially unveiled at 10:00am on March 27th, by the Mayor of Florence. A large range of educational and interactive events, as well as concerts and schools programs, coincidedwith the installation.
