Herbert A. Golder - Chair of Advisory Board
Prof. Herbert A. Golder is the chair of the IDA Advisory Board. He is a professor of Classical Studies at Boston University, and the Editor-in-Chief of Arion, A Journal of Humanities and the Classics. Aside form writing extensively on Greek drama, Prof. Golder also works in film, most notably in collaboration with Werner Herzog. His most recent film is My Son, My Son, What have Ye Done (2009). Prof. Golder is also the recipient of the first APA Outreach Award, for bringing Classics to a broader audience. He is assisting the IDA with the first JDA publication.
Roger L. Michel
Roger L. Michel, Jr., the IDA's Executive Director, is an ex officio member of the Advisory Board (for bio see main 'People' page).

Roger Bagnall
Roger Bagnall is Leon Levy Director of the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World and Professor of Ancient History at New York University. Before joining the NYU faculty in 2007, Bagnall was Jay Professor of Greek and Latin and Professor of History at Columbia University, where he had taught for 33 years. During that time he served as Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Chair of the Department of Classics. Educated at Yale University and the University of Toronto, he specializes in the social and economic history of Hellenistic, Roman and Late Antique Egypt. He has held many leadership positions in the fields of classics and papyrology and is currently president of the Society for Classical Studies (formerly the American Philological Association). He is the author of many books and articles, including Early Christian Books in Egypt (2009) and Everyday Writing in the Graeco-Roman East (2010). He is a member of the American Philosophical Society and the Académie Royale de Belgique, as well as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the British Academy and a Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute.

Nigel Wilson
Nigel Wilson, FBA is a fellow emeritus of Lincoln College, Oxford and one of the world’s preeminent papyrologists and scholars of Archimedes. Professor Wilson is a member of the Royal Academy of Arts.

Sir Simon Jenkins
Sir Simon Jenkins FSA FRSL is a newspaper columnist, editor and author. He writes columns for both The Guardian and London's Evening Standard and is the author of numerous books on politics, history and architecture. Jenkins was editor of The Times from 1990 to 1992 and of the Evening Standard from 1976 to 1978. From 2008-2014, he has was chairman of the National Trust. Jenkins was a member of the Millennium Commission from 1994 to 2000 and has also sat on the Board of Trustees of the Architecture Foundation. From 1985 to 1990, he was deputy chairman of English Heritage.

Ward Briggs
Ward Briggs is the Louise Fry Scudder Professor Emeritus of Classics at the University of South Carolina. Prof. Briggs specializes in Latin literature, particularly VIrgil. His research into the history of American Classical Scholarship lead him to create the Database of Classical Scholars, in collaboration with The Classics Conclave.
Mary R. Lefkowitz
Mary Lefkowitz, Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities Emerita at Wellesley College has written on subjects as varied as ancient Greek literary biographies and women in antiquity. She is best known outside academe for her challenge to revisionist history in her book Not Out of Africa: How Afrocentrism Became an Excuse to Teach Myth As History (1997).

Jasper Griffin
Jasper Griffin, FBA is an Emeritus Fellow of Balliol College, Oxford and a fellow of the British Academy. Prof. Griffin is considered one of the world's foremost scholars in Latin and Greek literature. He has composed odes for oration at multiple IDA events and was himself honoured at an event in October 2012.

Giles Richardson
Giles Richardson is a maritime archaeologist at the University of Oxford and an administrator at the Classical Art Research Centre and Beazley Archive. Giles has advised the IDA/Harvard Sicily Trip and is currently working with the IDA on the 'prison ship' maritime project in Greece, which will combine maritime archaeology and advanced digital imaging techniques.

Charles Crowther
Dr. Charles Crowther is the assistant director of the CSAD at the University of Oxford and oversees the Ptolemaic Inscriptions project. He is also a fellow of Ancient History at Queen's College, Oxford.

Thomas Mannack
Dr. Thomas Mannack is a leading expert in Greek pottery and iconography. He is a Reader in Classical Iconography at the Beazley Archive, University of Oxford. Dr. Mannack has worked with Benjamin Altshuler and the IDA on imaging projects in the Beazley Archive, and presented with Benjamin Altshuler and Giles Richardson at the APA conference 2015.

Susan Treggiari
Prof. Susan Treggiari is an Emeritus Professor of Stanford University and a retired professor at the University of Oxford. Prof. Treggiari, with Dr. Miriam Griffin, is a founding member of the Women in Classics Series and co-hosted the inaugural Women in Classics Dinner at Somerville College, Oxford.

Randall White
Prof. Randall White is a professor of Anthropology at New York University. He specializes in prehistoric art in Europe, particularly France, and uses archaeological techniques to analyze the technologies of paleolithic hunter-gatherers. The IDA is currently working with Prof. White on the Marsoulas Caves RTI project.
